Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games (INAPG 2018) is the first major international multi-sport event in Asia, involving athletes with a range of disabilities, that held in Indonesia. In continuing the legacy and success of the first Asian Games in Indonesia in 1962, the city of Jakarta was chosen as the location of this multi-event in 2018. With the spirit that sports can foster new hope, Republic of Indonesia’s Government along with the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta take the challenge to organize INAPG 2018 to exceed the success of the previous event.
As a step towards achieving this aim, the Indonesia Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (INAPGOC) is formed to prepare, implement and evaluate the execution of INAPG 2018. By organizing this event, INAPGOC wants to actively promote the special sports for athletes with disabilities to Indonesian citizens, so that in the future the support for these sports will continue to increase. Furthermore, this event is expected as the first step to make the opportunity to compete a right for all levels of society.
The slogan ‘Inspiring Spirit and Energy of Asia’ is aimed to unite Asia, to motivate people to be positive, and to support social equality.
In addition, besides Asian Para Games, Asian Games 2018 also has ‘Energy of Asia’ as their emblem, which was inspired by Indonesia’s First President, Soekarno, and his spirit to build Gelora Bung Karno and other stadiums as well.
