Transjakarta to provide 300 disability-friendly buses for 2018 Asian Para Games

One key element for a successful organization of the 2018 Asian Para Games is the availability of disability-friendly transportation service for athletes, officials and spectators.

TransJakarta became the official partner of the 2018 Asian Para Games on Tuesday after signing a cooperation agreement with the Indonesian Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (INAPGOC). The agreement was signed by TransJakarta president director Budi Kaliwono.

Budi said TransJakarta was committed to providing transportation services, particularly for the disabled, throughout the one-week sporting event.

“During the recent Asian Games, we managed to transport approximately 700,000 people, 5 to 8 percent of whom were people with disabilities. So, we want to provide more services to our friends with disabilities,” Budi said.

TransJakarta’s commitment was enthusiastically welcomed by INAPGOC.

“We are very grateful for TransJakarta’s full support, because disability-friendly and reliable transportation services are a prerequisite for a successful Asian Para Games,” said INAPGOC revenue and sponsorship director Hasina Hakim.

These transportation services will come in the form of 200 low-entry buses and 100 high-entry buses. For the service, TransJakarta will cooperate with the Transportation Ministry and the Social Affairs Ministry.

Budi assured that TransJakarta was ready to meet the needs of all customers. As for the 2018 Asian Para Games, TransJakarta bus services will be free of charge for everyone on Saturdays and Sundays.
